Hi friend!
I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be taking a short break from The Bed Perspective for two (maybe three) weeks to work on the final parts of my music.
I got the music back from the first mixer and it wasn’t great (thankfully I got a huge discount so it wasn’t too bad financially), so we’re trying something different where my brother is sitting with a new engineer while he’s mixing it to make sure it sounds good.
I also realised there were phrases here and there amd some whole songs that I wanted to redo now that I’m a tad better from new medication — and not that I know more about recording. The first few songs I did three and a half years ago were not recorded as I want them to. This is a learning process!
As you all know, I only have energy to work for about 20-30 minutes a day and to take care of myself I need to focus on just one thing right now. Also, I cannot rely on my voice so I need to be ready for those days where it opens up. Thankfully, the new medication has helped with this too.
I’ve amped up my pacing, which means I’m trying not to think or feel too much during the day, and I do several guided relaxations throughout the day to keep my energy levels as low as possible so I have energy available for my music. I am mustering all the patience I possible can.
Phew, making music while sick is not an easy task!
I hope you will stay on. As I wrote, I won’t be gone for too long.
In the meantime, I’d love to know what creative projects you are working on and if you have anything to share with us, please share it in the comments below.
Love,
Madelleine
You are always remarkably generous with your readers & I am so in support of you pouring your full energy into your creative calling right now ❣️ Good luck with pacing and everything else!
Right now I’m working on a playlist to celebrate Pride, a blog post about the complex relationship between gratitude and chronic illness, a long journal entry about the cicadas, and a pamphlet about how to exit a high-control group (aka cult) that I plan to gently give to the Jehovah’s Witnesses the next time they knock on our door haha. Just a few minutes a day on whichever project I’m most excited about! But as my disabled friend Nat reminds me, drop by drop the bucket is filled.
Of course, we’ll still be here when you return. Good to hear how you take care of yourself and being witness to the boundaries you Instill.
I’m preparing the journal aspect of my book that’s being published in ebook format. It’s been interesting to hear my inner critic pipe up and get really loud ! It’s telling me others will tell me I’m not qualified enough to teach people how to dare to dream, step into their inner power and fly fearlessly in the direction of their dreams.
What was most insightful is that I felt an energy round the back of my head an hour later. I wondered at the correlation between this and tension then migraine attack. Both followed suit and the next day I was ill for a few days.
