I had a similar epiphany about travel - I can’t travel like I did before, but I am now exploring in my mind what would or could work. Its a fun mind holiday, and gives me hope. It would require support people and money but that’s the same sting as “I won’t ever because I can’t”.
I already travel slow - no more than 8hrs flying per day, sleep in Transit hotel inside airport so no customs etc. In Dubai I get a complimentary greet at gate. Aim for 15-20 hours’ rest - maybe a massage or swim in pool if I feel like it to ease swelling. Mostlu resting in quiet, dim room. In UK car & driver to destination. Rather than multiplr trains. In future I’ll need a companion to be my ‘roadie’ so I can do some little walks - my dream is to walk some of the Camino - and call them to come fetch me if anything goes wrong. Rest day every third day. Abort as needed. Sounds rather expensive but never say never. A paid companion to sort things out who isn’t in a relationship with me might be essential - I struggle to do things at any pace but ‘as slow as it needs to be’ but at that pace I have a surprising stamina. Kind of like a toddler…
If you ever need a companion in England, give me a shout! I live in East Yorkshire/north Lincs region and would love to accompany you on your exciting travels 🤩💜
I love this - finding ways that truly work for us ❤️🙌🏻
Exactly!
This is a wonderful idea Madelleine! I’m looking forward to these shorts already.
And learning to pace ourselves is helpful even for those with a little more energy to use too. It is still finite.
Thank you so much, Linn.

Wow, would love to hear what you’ve come up with!

Thank you for sharing! Sounds like some great ways to pace while travelling!

Used to travel like that. An hour in the car is a stretch right now, but planes are better or I’m more motivated by wintering in the UK summer.
