Finding inner peace [Meditation for chronic illness folks #9]

In this 4 minute meditation we cultivate a sense of inner peace by staying in the present moment and allowing what is (the meditation without music is below)

Hi friend!

So, sometimes I really need to take my own advice. I have recently written about how my biggest creative block happens when I’m thinking like an able-bodied person, trying to do as much and as fast as they do.

I had to stop sending out meditations because I couldn’t keep up with recording a 15 minute meditation every second week — until it hit me: The meditations don’t have to be that long. I, in fact, often meditate for only a few minutes because my brain cannot handle more than that.

So today’s meditation is only four minutes long. Before you begin, think of a pain within you. This could be a physical pain that has been bothering you or an emotional mental or spiritual pain. Name it. We will be using this during the meditation.

When we breathe in our pain and make space for it in the body, we at least stop fighting it. This may not take away the pain, but it may lessen some of the resistance to it, that exacerbates the pain. We breathe out peace to the world, to remember that we are not alone.

I do need to say, that I find that this meditation can exacerbate neuropathic pain if we over-breathe or focus too hard. Try to keep it light.

Here is a version without music:
